PORSCHE CLUB OF AMERICA,  SHASTA REGION

              MINUTES OF AUGUST 14, 2008 MEETING

 

President Bob Dunlap called the meeting to order at Marie Callender’s Restaurant at 7:03 p.m. with 18 present  Introductions were made with members introducing themselves and their Porsches.  Several anecdotes  and adventures were mentioned  Guests introduced were Jack Ochs ( 1986 red 928) with Joanne Johnson (founding member of Shasta Region) from Redding and Art Tilles (‘83 Maroon 911) from Whitmore.

 

I.  TREASURER’S REPORT

      A. Pam Dunlap, Treasurer, reported a balance on hand of $3,325.08. 

            Monies have been collected for the Napa Porsche/Winery tour.  

            She is still pursuing the shop in Red Bluff who can do shirt badges. 

            Input confirmed that the gold metallic thread in badges can be sub-

            stituted with gold colored thread as it is easier to work with.

 

II.  WEBSITE MANAGER’S REPORT

        A  Phred Degner said he was having difficulty with files and importing

             pictures.  He hoped the new program that Sharon  Nani will produce

             will work better.

 

III.  COMMITTEE REPORTS

        A.  MEMBERSHIP:  President Dunlap reported two members:  Al Weidman

             of Oroville (yellow  1975 914) and Alan Schauer of Willows (2000 Silver

             Boxster)

        B.  TOURS:  Jerry Nystrom, Tourmeister, said the Sunday, August 17 Tour

             will be to Corning, Rolling Hills Casino, via several detours  thru farm

             country and model airplane park.  Meet 9:00 a.m. at Oasis on Athens

             Ave.  and leave at 9:30 a.m.  WATCH YOUR WEBSITE!

 

            NAPA PORSCHE /WINERY TOUR to depart Sunday, September 14. TIME

            AND PLACE TO BE ANNOUNCED  FOR LEAVING.  Twelve cars with

             24 people going.  Ladies, you can dress up for CIA dinner; guys,                        suggest slacks or kakis and Porsche shirt.  Name tags would be helpful          for the different events.  Warm days, cooler nights.

IV.  NEW BUSINESS

      A.  GUEST SPEAKER:   President Dunlap passed out detail sheets on tires,

             suggested life span, related causes of deterioration, how to read age,

             chemical breakdown, driven or not, etc.  Much research was done by

            Bob.  He  suggested that an open electronic forum be made (Ask Shasta 

            Region) for ongoing questions pertinent to Porsches in which all                       members could participate.  Many regions and registries provide for

            this kind of interaction, but not on a local level.

V.  COMMENTS AND RAFFLE DRAWING

          A. ROUNDTABLE COMMENTS  included Jerry Nystrom’s adventure with

            Monster Truck Drags at Infineon, John Rose needed help with 0-40 oil,

            Web site needs to be in the newsletter and  autocross discussed. 

            Spud Furtado gave high recommendations for paint work done on his

            Boxster by Bernardi, Redding and new LED lights were installed on Dale

            Gleichweit’s 356 making a huge difference in visibility of taillights.

            B.  RAFFLE DRAWING won by Ron Stremel (duster and detail brush set)
