Minutes of Mar 12,2009 Meeting

 

President Bob Dunlap called the meeting to order at Marie Callender’s Restaurant  at 6:35 P.M. There were 24 members present, with 1 more member arriving during the meeting.  Meeting started with handing out of the Porsche Gloves order’s and presentation to Duane Spencer of his birthday present from a fellow Shasta Region member.

 

l.         Treasurer’s Report

A.     Treasurer Pam Dunlap reported

                        1.  The balance amount currently on hand is $2851.82.

            2.   After depositing of another $100 for newspaper ad and the glove money orders, balance will be back to $3100.

            3.  Received the Region Subsidy of $168

4.  Paid Newsletter editor for publishing cost, Harvey bill every 2 months to simplify the bookkeeping.

 

II.  Website Manager Report

            A. Webmaster Sharon Nani reported

1.  Expression of thanks to contributors of their Porsche photos for the  navigation bar and Keep the Flash page: Bruce Lutz, John and Julia Rose, Bob Strickler, Dave Nani, Deborah Sheehan, Bob Dunlap, and Michael Gasman

2.  Featured member, Jack Haling will do a phone interview with contributing his own photo’s for the Featured Member article

3.  The last 30 days of web site views showed a 46% increase with 214 visits and 1042 page views.  After entering the Index portal page, the most viewed pages were: photo gallery, tours, club meetings, calendar, and newsletter.  All 56 pages had been viewed.

4.  The Referring Sites report showed 45% came directly to the site, 19% came from pca.org, 16% from Google, rest from zone 7 regions and other search engines.

5.  Sharon encouraged members to submit their Porsche photos and join the fun of the interactivity of the web site, all photos or submissions can be sent directly to the webmaster through the links on the Shasta Region Web Site. http://sha.pca.org/contacts2008.html

 

III.  Committee Reports

A.     Membership – in the absence of Membership Chairman, Phred Degner, President Bob Dunlap reported that there were currently 60 primary and 54 affiliate members.  No new members joined this month.  Phred arrived later in the meeting and confirmed that there was no additions to the report.

 

B.     Tours – Tour Director Jerry Nystrom reported

1.  President Bob Dunlap reported that there were 2 new reports that had to be filed from each tour to comply with new PCA regulations for tour  insurance:  An Observers report and a Post Event report.  Bob made tour form templates which contained checklists for the required information.  This simplifies the procedure of just checking, signing, and mailing in the reports.

2.  Tour Director Jerry Nystrom reported the following potential tour schedule for 2009:

     a.  Sunday March 15th: Doug Rich Memorial Tour, west of Redding, Shasta Dam, ending at either Logans or Dry Creek Station in Palo Cedro for lunch

b.  Sunday April 19th: Wildflower Tour East of Redding

c.  Sunday May 17th: Meet with southern members to loop to the South of Redding, lunch at Rolling Hills Casino

d.  Sunday June 14th: Mt Shasta, Panther Meadows Loop with lunch in Mt Shasta, possibly at Lillies

e. Sat – Sun – Mon July 11-13, MedfordJacksonville, Ore with Jet boat ride on Sunday: Bob researched Jet Boat information: 4 hour tour, Russ will research lodging / dinner

f.  Sunday, August 16th:  the hwy 44 / Hat Creek Loop : Picnic at Hat Creek

g. Sat – Mon: Sep 12-14th: possible Yosemite Overnighter

h.  Sunday Oct. 11th Fall Colors Tour: Whitmore area, possible Lavender Ranch tour:  Bob Prossor will research.

 

IV. Old Business –

A.  Ask Shasta Region has been active and useful. One member obtained information what kind of oil to use in his 911’ and another received recommendations on ‘where to smog his Boxster.’  Autoclinic in Palo Cedro owned by Shasta Region member Jeff Berry did an excellent smog job on the Boxster.  Thanks to all responders.

B.  Auto Cross options are still being investigated.  Trinity Touring Club is having an auto cross this Sunday, March 15th.  We’ll take a look at the participation interest.  Thunder Hill was a more expensive option.

 

V.  New Business

            A.  See tours for comments on Observers and Post Tour Reports

            B.  IRS Form 990 for 2008 tax year has been met

           

 End of the meeting raffle was won by Dave Nani, micro filament towels

            Round table ending comments were made. Dave Furtado is looking into a group event at “Need for Speed” go-cart track on Pine Street in Redding.
