Minutes of Oct 9, 2008 Meeting

 

President Bob Dunlap called the meeting to order at Marie Callender’s Restaurant  at 7:00P.M. There were 18 members present.  Meeting started with introductions of members and their Porsches.

 

l.         Treasurer’s Report

A.     Treasurer Pam Dunlap reported

                        1.  The balance amount currently on hand is $2714.61

                        2.  Foster Children’s Carnival is coming up on Dec. 13th, Porsche National contributes a subsidy of $350 toward expenses.  The balance which is not spent is donated to Good Will Mission.

 

II.  Website Manager Report

            A.  Phred Degner reported that he was in the process of turning the management of the Shasta Region Web site over to Sharon Nani who is in the process of rebuilding the pages of the web site.

            B.  Sharon Nani showed a brief demo of the new web site pages.  Porsches, People, and Tours is the theme of the updated web site which should be active by December.  Sharon requested that members submit pictures of their Porsches which are featured in animations on the main page and pictures of their Porsche in a scenic background of our Region for the animations in the Navigation Bar of the web site.

 

                       

III.  Committee Reports

A.     Membership – President Bob reported 3 new members: Dennis Halsey, with a Blue 1988 911, Jack Ochs, with a Red 928 S, and Michael & Theresa Gasman with a 75 911 S Targa.  Michael and Theresa were present at the meeting.

 

B.    Tours – Chairman Jerry Nystrom reported that the Sunday tour on October 12 would be from Ash Creek, Black Butte, Manton, to Shingletown, then back to Redding, ending with Lunch at Logans.  We would meet at 9:00 AM and leave by 9:30 AM.

C.    IV. Old Business –

1.  President Bob Dunlap showed a slide show of pictures of the Napa Winery/Porsche Collection Overnight Tour in Sept, shared the thank you letters written to Palmaz and Spottswoode Wineries, and  round table comments were made expressing the unanimous conclusion that this was definitely an experience that all enjoyed. Everyone appreciated the efforts put forth by Dale and Gail Gleichweits in arranging such a memorable event.

2.  Bob attested to the success of ‘askshastaregion’.  When he put out an email requesting help in finding a mid 70’s Blaupunkt Franfurt radio, and within 30 minutes he had 5 responses of help.



IV.  New Business

            A. New members were announced: see membership

            B.  Forster Children’s Christmas Carnival will be December 13 at the Veteran’s Hall in Redding.

            C.  Shasta Region Christmas Party arranged by Russ and Ruth Duclos will be 2nd Thurs of Dec on the 11th.  Russ will send out invitations to announce the details, place and time.

            D.  End of the meeting raffle was won by new member: Michael Gasman
