Minutes of September 11, 2008 Meeting

 

President Bob Dunlap called the meeting to order at Marie Callender’s Restaurant at 6:50 P.M. There were 21 members present.  The introduction of members was waived as members present were familiar with each other.  A birthday cake was presented to President Bob and a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” was attempted.  Profuse thanks from the president followed.  Potential member Rick Dunbar arrived shortly after the meeting started and was introduced by Vice President Duane Spencer.  Rick was a member of Shasta Region many years ago and currently owns 3 914’s in varying stages of race preparation and/or conversion. 

 

l.         Treasurer’s Report

A.     Treasurer Pam Dunlap reported

                        1.  The balance amount currently on hand is $3,080.68

 

II. Website Manager Report

A.     Phred Degner reported no changes to the website.  Sharon Nani, who has agreed

to chair the website in 2009 briefly outlined changes she was preparing, including linked photos and animation in each section of the website.

                       

III. Committee Reports

A.     Tours – Tourmeister Jerry Nystrom reported that our Napa Tour gather time would be 10:50 on Sunday, 14 September, at the Holiday Market parking lot in Cottonwood.  The group would then depart at 11:00.  Plans are to stop at The Putah Creek Café in Winters for lunch.  Route maps, events schedules, area maps, and cell phone number lists were passed out to members who will attend. 

 

IV. Old Business

A.     President Dunlap briefly outlined the service, Ask Shasta Region, which would be an e-mail based question and answer forum. 

 

V.  New Business

A.     New Member Art Tilles was welcomed.  His 83 911 SC is currently being repainted.  Art announced that he has recruited a Porsche-owning neighbor to come to our next meeting.

B.     Participation from members was encouraged for the Shasta Northwinds.  Newsletter Editor, Harvey Weidman explained that he received feedback from the PCA newsletter contest judges that participation from other members would make for a better product.

C.    There is a new address for PCA Executive Office in Springfield, Virginia.  Applications with correct labeling were passed out to members.  Members were encouraged to provide applications to potential members wherever they were encountered.

D.    Information about the “Hooked on Porsches” weekend, sponsored by Diablo Region was disseminated. 

E.     Phred Degner briefly outlined the “Another Chance” program to rescue injured dogs.  Vice President Spencer motioned that a $50.00 donation be made to this charity.  The motion was seconded and approved by means of voice vote by members present.

 

 

V.  Round Table Comments

            A.  V.P. Spencer briefly discussed the NASCAR points race and upcoming races

            B.  Sue Weidman and Sharon Nani both stated they were looking forward to the Napa

                 tour on the weekend.

            C.  Harvey Weidman stated he always sends a color copy of the newsletter to a

                 highlighted member.  For the August issue, Phred Degner received the color copy.

D.    Bob Cochran recently returned from a trip to the Orient.  He visited Singapore and obtained a shirt from a Porsche dealer in Singapore. 

E.     Dave Furtado stated he feels like the northstate is now home to him because he is performing metal fabrication work on a GT-2 for a local client.

F.     Will Thompson stated the battery charger he won in a raffle earlier this year has

died. 

 

VI. Raffle Drawing

A.      The Raffle Drawing was won by Dave and Sharon Nani.  They won a set of micro-fiber cleaning cloths.

 

VII. Adjournment

A.   The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
