Summer—At Last! Fellow Porsche Enthusiasts, After a lengthy stay in the auto hospital, Otto rejoined the stable with a few new parts, eager to mix it up with the other Porsches on the road. He made the March meeting, still feeling the effects of a prolonged illness—a significant cold idle anomaly, a leaky oil pressure sender unit and a loose bolt on the fan housing. This proves that the worst thing you can do for your Porsche is to let it sit. I learned my lesson—from now on, I’m letting them lie down! At the meeting, we decided to visit southern Oregon during our 22/23 July over-niter. We will stay at the Red Lion in Medford and dine at the McCully House in Jacksonville, Oregon. See the O-Niter ad in this issue of Shasta Northwinds on page 3. Pam and I are “officially” documented Concours Judges for Zone 7. We attended the day-long school at Niello Porsche in Rocklin and learned all the nuances of showing and judging Porsches. It was nice to polish-up on our concours skills, but it was just great being around other Porsche people and, of course, the new Porsches too! I’m sure the clean-up crew is still removing the slobber from a few Cayennes! Our 2nd tour of the season brought together 5 Porsches for a great tour to Shingletown, Manton, and a circuitous route to Logan’s Roadhouse in Redding for lunch. Before lunch, we stopped by the Redding RC Airpark to watch the talented pilots fly everything from a pocket-sized helicopter to a fixed wing airplane with an engine bigger than our garden tractor! It was a beautiful day to get out and enjoy the scenery, the roads, and our Porsches. Our group included Duane Spencer, John Rodriguez, Will Thompson, Jerry and Elly Nystrom, Russ and Ruth Duclos, Pam and myself. We were joined for lunch by David and Sharon Nani in one of their last trips in Mac, their 69 912. We’ll miss you for the May 21st tour, but we thought it would be better to be at our son’s wedding than with our friends driving our Porsches in beautiful northern California. Hmmmm, maybe I’d better think about this one. See you on the road!
