Bring on the Sunshine!

Fellow Porsche Enthusiasts,

Sorry we missed the May tour, but I’m told others may have missed it too.  See accompanying article by Tourmeister, Jerry.

Our son Rob and his new wife, Crystal were married in Monterey on a warm, sunny, Pacific Coast day.

Meanwhile, I heard stories of torrential Northern California downpours that prevented even the bravest of Porchefiles from risking an appearance for the tour.  I heard the wind was so violent that it spawned tornados and the resulting sand storms wreaked havoc on the entire north state!  Wait a minute—I didn’t hear any news of torrential downpours or tornados—did you even get any rain on Sunday?  Hmmmm.  Oh well, I’m sure you’re all saving up your energy for the June tour where we’ll spend a couple of hours enjoying the countryside, and then descend upon the Gleichweit’s in Shingletown for home-made pie, ice cream, barbecued ribs, sweet potato pie, broccoli casserole and sour dough French bread.  Well, they’ll just supply the ice cream and pie—but you can bring the rest.  Dale and Gail have promised clear weather and smooth roads for the 25 June tour.

Come out to our June dinner meeting on the 21st and we can finalize plans for our other summer activities.

We’re looking forward to our overnighter in July and, of course, to Parade in August.

See you on the road!

Tour Report from Jerry Nystrom —

We had a great tour on Sunday, May 21st.  Elly and I gassed up the pretty signal red 356 with the new master cylinder and brakes, that now work, and headed down steep and windy Teton Drive to Buenaventura Blvd., which was decked out in beautiful spring colors.  We went south on Buenaventura, finally ending up at our first rest break at the AM/PM mini-mart and deli for our first rest break of the day.  We took the opportunity to fill up our coffee cups before heading salmon-in-the-street sculpture garden and waterfall-leading-nowhere fountain across from Safeway, we were now headed east on Cypress Ave.  A short ways down the road we passed the impressive and extremely expensive Redding City Hall (aka Taj Mahal).  When we came to the Athens Ave signal lite, we turned north again for a short run to our second stop at Oasis Porsche/Audi, where we hoped to meet some fellow Porsche enthusiasts.
