“adjust” their estimates, and a few folks actually made some slight adjustments.  The next leg landed us in beautiful downtown Manton.  Fortunately, (or unfortunately, depending on your predilection), we (*) missed the wine tasting festivities by a half hour.  A few more adjustments were (*) made to the odometer guesses and we were off to Redding—the long way.  After an excursion through all points east of Redding, we finally, (*) made it to Logan’s Roadhouse right on time.  A few folks (*) guessed very close to Jerry’s ending odometer mileage, but only one got it right.  For her lucky guess of 738 miles, Holly Hoeskstra (*) won a get-out-of-jail-free card!  (It’s a Bail Bonds joke—you know—Holly Bail Bonds…. Oh, never mind.)  She actually won a $50.00 gift certificate for dinner at a restaurant of her choice.   Way to go Holly!  Someday we’ll have to tell her that Jerry’s odometer is broken!

If you haven’t signed up by the time you read this, you may have missed the opportunity, but, just in case you see this by the 15th of May, and you’d like to attend our first over-nighter to Reno, give me a call and I’ll include you on the list.  Dale and Gail Gleichweit have (*) coordinated our first overnight tour of the year to Reno on the 19th and 20th of May.  They have (*) researched for the most convenient and best priced hotel.  They have found that the Holiday Inn is the best place.  The rate is $74.00 per night.  AAA, AAARP and DOT discounts are available.  Contact the Holiday Inn at www.holidayinn.com, or Reno, 775-786-5151, or 800-448-2296.  We will see several points of interest including the National Auto Museum.  A special Porsche surprise event will also be on the agenda.  We’ll announce the depart time for Saturday, 19 May as we learn the times of our tours.  We can coordinate a rendezvous with our Chico members on the way south if there are any takers from that area.

See you on the road!
