My love affair with                                                   der Porschekar began in 1960.  After owning a string of four MG's and consistently losing to Porsches in autocross and time trial events. I made the momentous decision to follow the sage advice of that old saying--"if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"!  I did and I've never regretted it.

My first Porsche was a 1960 normal coupe with which I was thrilled and delighted.  So much so that I went to work for the dealer, Van Wyk's, Inc., VW-Porsche in Santa Barbara.  During my tenure there I became involved with the PCA (Los Angeles Region) and the Porsche Owners Club, also in LA and much more into racing and speed events. The PCA was hosting the Porsche Parade in 1964, and was looking for the perfect place to have it--I suggested Santa Barbara and the rest is history.  This was when the Santa Barbara Region of PCA came into being.  We wound up with about 70 members and co-sponsored the Parade in '64.  I had the honor of being chosen as the charter president of  PCA-SB.

In 1961 I purchased my second Porsche, a ruby red super coupe.  Next was a silver '63 coupe, then two Speedsters (one of which I raced a couple of times) and finally a black '65 C coupe.  That is until two years ago I got the yellow '65 C which is in an ongoing  state of restoration.  Needless to say, it's great to be driving a 356 again!
